The NALTO said that this has partly caused medical facilities to consider other alternatives to solve their workforce issues.
A seemingly endless shortage of physicians serves as another reason for the growth locum tenens. “Let’s say the number of insured Americans indeed begin to rise again,” opines Interim Physicians. “It would still be useless if hospitals have fewer doctors on their payrolls.”
The healthcare sector employed 327,000 practitioners over the past 12 months. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the healthcare employment increased by 39,000 in July 2017. This number comprises those in ambulatory healthcare services and hospitals.
